We are excited to welcome Katie Magowan Robertson back as the new girls varsity basketball coach. Katie was an assistant coach and junior varsity coach back in the 2018-2019 season.
Phil Hubbard, Athletic Director at Temple Academy, says “Katie did a fantastic job two years ago as our junior varsity coach. She brings a lot of knowledge to the girls program and has a great rapport with the ladies already. They are familiar with her and have confidence in her to develop and bring them to the next level. Katie has been working hard to finish her degree in Sports Management at Liberty University. She will be working closely with the athletic department this coming school year as an assistant athletic director while doing her internship classes. Also, she was an administrative athletic assistant at Living Waters Christian School and has a gift of organization and development. These strengths will make her an excellent resource as an assistant athletic director and high school girls basketball coach”.
Jeff Desrosiers, one of our former basketball coaches, says this about Katie, “Katie played basketball her whole life and is truly a student of the game. She can understand her competition, identify and cultivate the individual skills of each of her players, and formulate a detailed strategy to give her team the highest probability of winning - while competing as a team. She brings together the whole staff and helps them function as one integrated coaching team; plus, her players trust the coaching and each other causing them to function as an effective unified unit – in my eyes the perfect basketball coaching formula”.
Katie spoke about the opportunity at Temple Academy saying, “I am grateful and looking forward to the opportunity to return to Temple Academy to coach basketball and assist Phil Hubbard with athletic directing. I am excited to work with an amazing group of young women who strive for excellence in athleticism, sportsmanship, and character. Temple Academy not only offers an opportunity in coaching basketball, but an abundance in sport management experience. I look forward to learning from Phil Hubbard and other school staff about management in the sports world that I will likely apply to my future career.”
