PRESS RELEASE: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
TEMPLE ACADEMY HIRES CARRINGTON MILLER TO TAKE OVER THE BOYS BASKETBALL PROGRAM
As we look toward the future of our boys’ basketball program, we are excited to announce that Carrington Miller has been named our next boys’ basketball head coach. Carrington came to Temple Academy two years ago to be our 6th-grade teacher. During these past two years, he has been the assistant athletic director and helped assist the girls and boys soccer teams.
Carrington's philosophy of athletics lines up hand–in- hand with Temple Academy. Carrington states, “I believe that the spiritual, emotional, and mental growth of student-athletes is more important than any type of growth on the court. If I don’t see a bit of growth from a player in terms of basketball skills, but I see them grow into a more intimate and deeper relationship with Jesus Christ, then it is a win in my books. While I know winning is important to me and the school, I know that it’s not the most important aspect of the game for either of us. As coach of a Christian school basketball program, my number one focus would be on growing the character of our student-athletes. If our coaches, students, fans, and school put our relationship with God first, then I believe wholeheartedly that God will bless us with immense success on the court”.
Carrington's success at the high school level and collegiate level will help guide the Bereans boys’ basketball program. Phil Hubbard, Athletic Director at Temple Academy says, “Carrington is a great addition and is a very humble person. He adds a lot of new stuff to our program and we are excited to see how God uses him in the years to come. Carrington is consistent and dependable. The student-athletes already have respect for him as a staff member".
Carrington played for Valley High School and was one of the top high school basketball players in the state.

Wade Morrill, Athletic Director of Monmouth Academy and former basketball coach at Valley High Schools says, “He was the most talented player I have coached in my career with a great ability to raise the level of the team around him just by his presence. For me it wasn’t a matter of if but when he entered coaching. He will do a tremendous job molding and shaping the Temple Academy Basketball program and the young men who choose to be a part of it. His commitment to his faith, his family, and the game of basketball are a testament to his strengths as a man and he will make a tremendous Coach.”
Carrington's success proceeded him to Central Maine Community College. He had an outstanding basketball career.

Central Maine Community College's AD and Head Coach, David Gonyea shared his thoughts, “When I heard Carrington was named basketball coach at Temple Academy, I had one initial thought; they made a great hire!! Not only is Carrington and outstanding person, but a solid family man who comes from a great family. His basketball knowledge is very good; his ability to relate and understand high school kids is outstanding. He was an outstanding player in high school but really took his game to another level in college. I and our entire CM family are really excited for him and will support him any way we can. Congrats to Temple Academy, you made a great hire!”
Hubbard states, “We are excited to see how he develops our young athletes and we know he will invest a lot of time.”
Carrington is already working on some basketball camps this summer. He truly loves the students at Temple Academy and we are proud to have him on the coaching staff.
